TutaBlu designs and manufactures smart water quality measuring instruments for long-term, on-location monitoring.

In 2018, Shawn co-founded TutaBlu Technologies Inc. in Vancouver B.C. on a mission to protect our most valuable resource: water. With a background in Civil Engineering and a passion for using smart technology to support municipalities and government in protecting our natural assets, Shawn is focused on building the infrastructure for healthy livable communities.

In his research he found that gaps in monitoring water health put people at risk. In addition, there is a significant cost to monitoring due to the size and remoteness of our watersheds. The call to duty for TutaBlu is simple – help communities go automated while saving the planet and people from millions of carbon-fueled fieldtrips every year.

Early Warning System

Without a clear visual of the water, it’s hard to know when your water source has been compromised. But, with TutaBlu immediate intervention is possible. An alarm is activated the moment that concentration levels have exceeded the accepted thresholds –and your team has access to all the data to make a decision in real-time.

Secure Cloud Technology

Receiving water quality variables in real-time is paramount in today’s fast paced world. Data collected, without interruption, is transmitted to the user via cloud from the signal station. Each signal station is compatible with up to five instruments connected through a secure interface.

Data Compilation

Data is recorded and stored for an easily-accessed, historical reference. This allows for predicting seasonal changes (e.g. change in water flow or depth), as well as, tracking contaminates to the source and predicting return to safe standards.

Lab-on-a-Chip

Water purity is essential to water resource management. Lab-on-a-Chip technology brings valuable decision-making data right to your team.

TUTABLU measurements and records also include chlorophyll a, DOC, TOC, nitrate, COD, water levels, speed, direction, hydrocarbons and cyanobacteria.

Anti-Fouling Safeguards

Dual-sided wipers and specially formulated copper guards prevent weeds, slime and algae from growing over the sensors.

Discrete Sensors for Each Water Quality Variable

Single-variable sensors make TutaBlu’s instruments fully customizable. Each sensor is manufactured and sold according to its features. Users can easily adjust the instrument using sensors that can be plugged and unplugged based on the current measurement requirements.

Long-Lasting Power

Power stations at the site are needed to run data distribution. Self-energizing technology or long-lasting batteries provide 6 months of power. Seasonal energy system checks are recommended.
